Čiernohorská railway
It is a narrow-gauge forest railway line in Slovenské Rudohorie, which operates on the route Chvatimech – Hronec – Čierny Balog – Vydrovo.o:p>
The railway was originally built to improve the transportation of harvested wood, as the capacity and quality of wood transportation in the traditional way - by floating - was no longer sufficient for the needs of the country's growing industry. It was necessary to ensure a smooth transport of wood. The construction of the main section from Hronec to Čierny Balog, 10.4 km long, began in 1908. The forest railway also played and important role in the Slovak National Uprising in 1944. It was used to transport food and weapons to the soldiers up to the mountains.
During the summer tourist season (1.5 - 15.9) it operates daily from Chvatimech to Čierne Balog and to Vydrovská valley (14 km in total). From 16.9. till 30.4. it operates every Saturday. Special rides can be ordered at any time.
